Elise has delivered results such as funding for the Lake Champlain Basin Program, the St Lawrence River, Lake George, and many, many more ecological gems and economic drivers in our region. New York State has seen first-hand the devastation that pollution can cause as the Adirondacks continue to recover from acid rain. Elise has worked to protect the acid rain research efforts in our district, advocating on behalf of the Adirondack Lake Survey Corporation and fighting to keep acid rain research funding high.
- There are approximately 50,000 invasive, non-native animal and plant species introduced to the United States, costing our country more than $100 billion annually
- Due to New York’s position as the gateway to the Great Lakes and a center of international shipping trade, our state is the epicenter of invasive species. In her role as Co-Chair of the Invasive Species Caucus, Elise works with her colleagues to combat invasive species, introducing legislation that would provide funding for research and programs to address this environmental and economic threat to our region.
